an A will of course have a longer belly drape
back strap chain is 37" long...not that it really makes a difference cause this set should be sewn onto a sturdy base

My first public performance (eek)... [May. 25th, 2008|06:08 pm]
UK Bellydance Community

[Current Mood |nervousnervous]

I will be bellydancing as part of Bedazzle For Just Because at Yeadon Town Hall (near Leeds) on the evening of 1 June. I'm in a group routine and have a tiny little solo.

Its for a good cause. Just Because are a charity set up by UK bellydancers as a breast cancer charity for sufferers and potential suffers in Egypt.

Come if you can...

Cross posted to my personal journal and bellydancing

Photographs ... [May. 3rd, 2008|05:22 am]

[Current Music |Solace - Balance]

I've been asked to attend a few haflas, my mobile studio in tow, to do 15 minute shoots with attendees for a small fee.
However, I'm not sure how much to charge.
Currently I charge £45 an hour for a shoot - however I'm unsure whether people would pay £15 for a 15 minute shoot with me.
So ... what I'm getting at ... is if I turned up at your Haffla what would you be willing to pay to have a 15 minute shoot? The outcome would be a disc of your hi-res and optimized for web photos as well as a £5 voucher off a full hours shoot with me.

Tribal Bellydance in London? [Apr. 18th, 2008|09:02 am]
UK Bellydance Community

Hello all,
I'm new to bellydance and would really love to start taking some classes. I'm particularly interested in tribal bellydance - but, is this a type of bellydance you have to approach with previous bellydance experience or can a total newbie begin here? On that note, does anyone know of a good (non-intimidating) class for beginners in the London area? (I'm in N.London).
Thank you for your help!

Hafla! [Nov. 16th, 2007|07:49 pm]
UK Bellydance Community

[Current Mood |hopefulApprehensive]

Calling all Sheffield peeps!

Just a quick reminder about the Boomshanka Tribal Hafla being held tomorrow night from 6:30pm at the church on Brocco Bank (just up the road from the roundabout outside Endcliffe Park), please forgive my awful venue description here, but I can't actually find any written information to tell me what this venue is really called!

The cost is £6 per person. Feel free to bring offerings for the buffet, middle-eastern in flavour if you can, although anything will be gladly accepted!

There will also be a few stalls (including the Debut offerings from Single Red Bead), a raffle, a live band and many performances by Boomshanka and others.

Self-confidence issues? [Nov. 1st, 2007|02:50 pm]
UK Bellydance Community

[Current Mood |enviousenvious]

Someone posted this on another forum in response to a rather dispirited post by a young bellydancer who worries that she is bigger than the other girls in her class. I think this is definitive proof that no matter what your size or your chosen style, you can be an amazing dancer, I just had to pass on the sentiment:
